Olympic Update #3
What a day at Cypress Mtn ! Cousin Rachel joined us for a cold and snowy day, that started with a 7am ride down to the bus (thanks Nadine) that would take us up the mountain. We got there with plenty of time before the event so we were able to saunter up the approx. 300 stairs that would lead us to our seats. Those same stairs came in handy when we were cold and needed some exercise to warm up, plus the hot chocolate stand was at the bottom. Check out the photos to see some of the stairs. The race was incredible and ended with a gold medal for Canada, way to go Ashleigh McIvor! The girls cheered their hearts out along with the thousands of others.

Olympics Update #2
Another exciting day here in Vancouver, the Howard's showed up late last night and then blasted off to Whistler this morning. We had tickets for shorttrack speedskating and what a fantastic event, fast, full of high speed action and crashes. We got to see some of the big names and another canadian medal. Silver for womens 500 metre. Everyone is hoarse from cheering almost non-stop for 2 hours. The Dumaines had tickets and were sitting nearby and cousin Amanda joined us as well.
Not much of a "winter" Olympics, it is beautiful, warm and sunny and the flowers are starting to bloom and the cherry blossoms are coming out downtown. Still lots of good snow at whistler and looking forward to skiing this weekend with the Howards. To check out more photos go here.

The atmosphere is electric.Next week we might try to get some tickets for events up there seeing as tickets are available due to weather delays etc.. Tonight we will be going to the medal ceremony for Alex Bilodeau, just got lucky and Monique happened to buy tickets to tonights presentation ceremony. The Dumaines have arrived and the party has begun.

Olympic Torch Relay
Well things are getting exciting out here, the olympic torch came down Montroyal Blvd (one block from our house!) this afternoon. A light rain did not discourage anyone from cheering. Although the torch carrier decided it would be a good idea to sprint ?! down the road, thus making our glimpse a quick one.
To check out the photos go here. About an hour later we went down the street to watch it come by again and were lucky to be at a relay point. We have no idea who the person was or how Vera got that dog but it sure was fun.At the girls school they had some Olympic related fun and Natasha played O Canada on her trumpet in front of the entire school! About 400 people were there.
More updates to come, hopefully we'll get to see a bit of the mens downhill on saturday.
Go Canada!
